Born in Krojanke (now Krajenka, Poland) on October 18, 1879, William Graetz was a banker who was chairman of German ORT (Organization for Rehabilitation Through Training) and a member of the executive board of the Jewish community of Berlin. He emigrated to Switzerland in 1938, to Argentina via France in 1940, and to the United States in 1947, and died in Philadelphia on January 13, 1974
